The Jammu & Kashmir Police on Thursday released photos of the four prime suspects involved in the killing of journalist Shujaat Bukhari .
The police called Bukhari’s killing a crime of terror and said the murder conspiracy was hatched in Pakistan and executed by terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba.

The mastermind of the attack is Sajjad Gul, a native of Srinagar who is now settled in Pakistan. According to police, Gul is associated with LeT.

A lookout notice has been issued against Sajjad, said SP Pani, IGP Kashmir Range, giving details of the case at a press conference.
“The investigation has established that there was a campaign against Shujaat Bukhari on certain social media platforms like kashmirfight.wordpress.com and Facebook account “Kadwa sach Kashmir” and twitter handler “Ahmad Khalid” ahmadkhalid@313. These sites were spreading hate campaign, malicious and intimidating content against the Kashmiri journalist,” said the IGP.

He further said, “during the investigation, with the cooperation of service providers, tangible evidence has been collected to establish that individuals behind it belong to LeT terrorist organization and all the content on social media was posted from Pakistan.”

“It is established that Sajjad Gul went to Pakistan in March 2017 on a fraudulently obtained passport which is being investigated. Earlier, he was arrested in a terror case (FIR no. 105/2016 u/s 725A Act) of PS Parimpora. He was also arrested in a terror case in Delhi sometime in 2002 and spent time in jail. This part is also being investigated, the top cop said.
