Threat to blow up Ambala railway station

Ambala, April 1: Threatening calls to blow up the railway stations at Ambala Cantonment, Darbhanga, Patna, Amritsar and Jalandhar have sent security forces in a tizzy on Monday.

According to information, the control room of the Railway Protection Force at the DRM office in Ambala Cantonment received two calls on the Railways helpline number 182 threatening to blow up several railway stations, including at Ambala Cantt.

The SP (GRP), RPF Commandant, DSP (GRP), SHO of Parao police station, SHO of GRP and other police officials reached the railway station and inspected it.

The RPF Commandant said, “Calls have been received and preventive measures are being taken. We are working on it.”

The calls were received in the afternoon. The caller reportedly threatened to blow up the area near the car and wagon hut.

DSP (GRP) Madan Lal said, “Security has been beefed up at the Ambala Cantonment railway station and it has been thoroughly scanned to ensure that no untoward incident takes place.”

Asked if it could be a prank call on April 1, the DSP said, “We have to take all calls seriously. Hence, the station is being inspected.”
