2 more arrested for Mullanpur carjacking

Mohali, January 11: In a case of Mullanpur carjacking at gunpoint, the Mohali police have arrested the remaining two accused here.

The police arrested Amandeep Singh, a resident of Mehroli village, and Jagjit Singh a resident of Shekhpur village here. With the arrest of the duo, now all four accused, who had committed the crime on November 27, are in police net.

It is to be noted that the police have already arrested Himmat Singh, a resident of Ropar, and Inderpreet Singh, a resident of Paintpur village in Mullanpur area, on December 6 last year. All suspects were running a gym in Mullanpur area.

On November 27, 2018, the miscreants had robbed a Swift car from Amandeep Singh, a resident of Haripur Sandola village in Baddi (Himachal Pradesh). The victim was on way to his home from Sector 40, Chandigarh, where he runs a saloon. The incident took place around 8.25 pm.

Two days after the crime, the police managed to recover the victim’s car and the car, which was used by the miscreants to commit the crime. Mohali SSP Kuldeep Singh Chahal said with arrest of all four miscreants, the case had been worked out. “We produced Amandeep Singh and Jagjit Singh before a local court, which sent them to 3-day police remand,” said SSP Chahal.
