Alert in Patiala after ‘Army men’ in suspicious car spotted

Patiala, October 14: An alert has been sounded in Patiala after four men wearing army fatigues were spotted moving in a Ford Figo car early Monday morning.

Police sources said that some residents spotted a car bearing registration number from Uttar Pradesh moving under suspicious circumstances.

The car was first seen entering Patiala in the morning at the National Highway toll barrier in Bahadurgarh. Thereafter, the police sounded an alert after many people informed the police control room about suspicious new car with some army men sitting in it and making rounds of the city

Police officials have confirmed that they are trying to ascertain the threat and are not taking it lightly as there were some specific inputs.Confirming the developments, a senior police officer said that the men in the car were first seen near an army area around 8 a.m.

Police have held nakas throughout the city and four police teams are on the chase. However, till last reports came in, the police have been unable to trace the vehicle.

Meanwhile, security has been upped around prominent schools in the city. Patiala SSP Mandeep Singh Sidhu confirmed the developments.

Sources said that the threat had assumed seriousness  in wake of visit by Dalai Lama in Rajpura. Already a police team has been rushed to the university on Patiala Rajpura road where the Religious leader is visiting.
