New Delhi, February 28: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday slammed the Opposition for its “negative and pessimistic” politics and termed the attempts to build an anti-BJP ‘mahagathbandhan’ ‘mahamilvat’.

The Prime Minister asked the BJP workers to use the social media carefully, “sift out fake and negative inputs and send only positive and optimistic messages to beat the Opposition in its attempts to direct the narrative towards negativity”.

“We need to be careful and use social media in a positive manner, only share positive and optimistic thoughts. We have a lot to feel optimistic about,” he said while addressing BJP workers via a mega video conferencing.

In a reply to a question on the effects of demonetisation and GST, the Prime Minister called negative build-up on the issues as attempts to instigate the middle and trader class. “Soon after notebandi, we won elections in Uttar Pradesh and then Gujarat. We won because we had the blessings of the middle class and traders’ community.

“Middle class is the backbone of the country and has remained neglected for long. We have taken several measures to alleviate their problems,” he said, recounting measures taken by the BJP government in the Interim Budget like zero tax on an income of Rs 5 lakh and ease in taking housing loan.

“Har ghar ka mahine ka kharcha kam hua hai,” he said

Speaking to cadres in Rewari, he also talked of how a new, upsurging India was retaliating and fighting back and also had its own set of super heroes. “Now we also have a Bahubali,” he said

Meanwhile, ‘mahagathbandhan’, he said, was “mahamilavat”.

“In order to trying to save its own identity, the Congress party is trying to take help of small parties. Through scattered power of small parties, it is trying to gain its strength. Ye milavat sarkar banana ke liye nahi, Congress ko jivit rakhne ke liye hai,” he said.
