JAMMU: The Directorate of School Education Jammu (DSEJ) organised ‘Online Divisional Level Kala Utsav’, a competition in which the winners of district level competition participated in nine different art forms – Vocal Music (Classical Hindustani / Karnataka),Vocal Music (any traditional folk),Instrumental Music (Classical Hindustani / Karnataka), Instrumental music (any traditional folk), Dance (any classical),Dance (traditional dance of any state), Visual art (drawing, painting),Visual art sculpture),Traditional Toys and Games.
Speaking on the occasion Ms. Anuradha Gupta, Director School Education Jammu divulged that the Kala Utsav is regular feature of the academic calander with an eye to promote finer arts in education by nurturing and showcasing the artistic talent of school students and to recognize the importance of aesthetics and artistic experiences which play a major role in creating awareness about the rich cultural heritage of India and its vibrant diversity.
She said that the talent of children needed to be exhibited and appretiated and Kala Utsav was one such platform. India has a long tradition of promoting art, culture, artistic practices and that of using such finer arts in the process of learning: the narrative tradition is one such example. These traditions narate the creative expansion from the individual to the community, which contributes towards the overall development of the society, she added.
It is worthwhile to mention here that last year students like Ms. Khushi in the female category from High School Kawa Udhampur brought laurels for the UT at National level Kala Utsav Competition that was held at Bhopal.
This year, the participants who won the Divisional Level Competition include Lovepreet of Mt. Litera School Kathua and Kismat Kumari of HS Jakh Samba in Vocal Music category, Suhani Thappa of GHSS Reasi and Sayed Umar of GHSS Surankote in vocal Music traditional, Arapana Rao of GHSS Shastri Nagar and Aryan Verma of GHSS Sarwal Jammu in Instrumental Music Classical category, Sumit verma of GHSS Tikri in Instrumental Music Traditional category, Dhanjay Singh of GBHSS Reasi and Simran Verma of GGHSS Kathua in Dance classical category, Rudransh Sudan of Christ Public School Poonch and Dallu Devi of GGHSS Kathua in Dance traditional Category, Chanchal of HSS Budhi (kathua) and Sunny Kumar of HSS Behri (Samba) in indigenous toy making and games category, Shibha of Learning Temples Kathua and Husnain Kazmi of HSS Surankote Poonch in 2D painting, Pari Mugdha Nischal of GGHSS Mubarak Mandi and Mohd Rizwan of HSS Kulwanta Udhampur in 3D Sculpture, a total of 17 participants who will now compete at UT level Kala Utsav Competition.
The competition was attened and evaluated by renownded artists of Jammu including Yogeshwer Singh, J R Sharma, (choreographers), Om Prakash Sharma, Suman Chib (Visual Artists), Sahil jasrota and Bishan Dass (Music Directors).
The keynote address at the event was presented by Mr. Surjit Singh I/C Cultural and Education Cell, DSEJ while the proceedings were conducted by Alka Sharma Team Member CEC. The Programme was coordinated by Sh Sadaket Ali Malik, and Mr. Aushtosh Sharma, team members of the Cultural and Education Cell.
