BANDIPORA, AUGUST 20: Joint market checking squads today conducted a number of inspections in Bandipora as part of its efforts to ensure proper supply of quality goods and other essential commodities at approved market rates across the district in view of ensuing Eid-ul-Azha.
The checking squad, comprising of Food Safety, Legal Metrology, Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Revenue and Police, today inspected various markets in Sumbal, Hajin, Aloosa, Ajas, Gurez and other town markets. The squads checked whether essential commodities are available to people at genuine rates.
The checking squad also realized a fine of Rs. 20,000 from erring shopkeepers and vendors for violating various provisions of Legal Metrology and Consumer Protection Acts. The checking squad also destroyed unhealthy bakery items and expired food items and rotten vegetables, besides, seized 35 kgs of polythene.
The checking squads also registered cases against 36 erring shopkeepers.
On the occasion, Food Safety Officer released an advisory regarding better use of bakery items.
