SHOPIAN : Hon’ble Advisor to Governor Shri. K Vijay Kumar today visited district Shopian accompanied by Chief Secretary, J&K, Shri. B.V.R. Subrahmanyam, Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Mr. Baseer Ahmad Khan, Additional Director General of Police, Mr. Muneer Ahmad Khan, Inspector General of Police, S.P. Pani and chaired a high level meeting here at circuit house Shopian to review the progress of developmental works in district Shopian.
On the occasion the District Development Commissioner Shopian, Dr Owais Ahmed gave comprehensive overview of the ongoing developmental projects in the district under various sectors. Many new works were also proposed by the DDC in the meeting.
Kumar reviewed the performance and status of all the core departments. The advisor directed the concerned executing agencies to complete the developmental works on top priority basis. He directed the concerned functionaries to ensure involvement of general masses in developmental process so as to promote public welfare. He also directed them to mobilise the field staff for redressal of their genuine grievances and effective implementation of different state and central sponsored schemes.
Later the advisor met various delegations from across the district. Demands raised by these delagations included construction of Fruit Mandi in Shopian, Upgradation of Sub-District Hospital to District Hospital, macdamisation of roads, construction of Polytechnic College, Completion of Trenz-Sheikhpora And Reshnagri Bridge, Bijbehara-Shopian Road, Aglar-Shopian Road, and Augmentation of receiving stations and portable Water Supply Schemes, Irrigation Canals, Gujjar & Bakarwal hostel, etc.
After giving a patient listening to the delegations, the Hon’ble Advisor directed that all the developmental works should be completed within strict time frame. He announced that the funds for construction of Fruit Mandi will be released immediately and the work will be completed in the shortest possible time. He also assured the public that Government is focussing on providing clean drinking water to each household. He directed the concerned departments to complete big projects like roads and bridges by June 2019. He also assured the delegation that under the Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojna or Saubhagya Scheme, electricity will be provided to all unelectrified households within 60 days.
The advisor stressed on timely completion of ongoing projects to avoid cost escalation and also asked to ensure quality works.
Later Advisor directed the DDC to monitor the ongong developmental projects and conduct public darbars in tehsil and blocks levels. He also appreciated the district administration for public outreach and winning the confidence of the genral public.
