Acting swiftly on public complaints lodged by the locals against rising menace of drug abuse. District administration along with Doda Police on Thursday launched a major crackdown on drug peddlers and nabbed 20 known drug paddlers of District Doda.
Taking different recourse as a corrective measure today on 05-10-2018 on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Doda Sh Simrandeep Dingh IAS and SSP Doda Sh Shabir Ahmed Malik Police teams of Police Station Doda led by SHO Sh. Sunil Sharma and Dy. SP Hqrs Doda Sh. Iftkhar Ahmed and Police teams of Police station Bhaderwah led by SHO Bhaderwah Sh. Muneer Ahmed under the supervision of ASP Bhaderwah Sh. Rajinder Kumar arrested 20 known drug peddlers from Doda and Bhaderwah area. The arrested person were identified as Yasir Ahmed S/O Abdul Majeed, Sagar Hussain S/O Mohd Ramzan, Zaheer Ahmed S/O Mohd Iqbal, Pervez Ahmed S/O Abdul Gani, Irshad Ahmed S/O Ghulam Mohd, Jasbir Singh S/O Nand Lal, Roshan lal S/O Dina Nath, Usama S/O Imtaiz Ahmed, Qayoom Ahmed S/O Farooq Ahmed, Rajesh Kumar S/O Swami Raj, Aqib Javed S/O Javed Ahmed all are resident of Doda town, Babl Sahil S/O Nissar Ahmed R/O Sartingal Bhaderwah, Toib Ahasan S/O Ahsan-ul-haq R/O Haveli Bhaderwah, Khursheed Ahmed S/O Ghulam Rasool R/O Shamdlain Thathri, Waseem Akram S/O Mohd Saleem R/O Udhampur, Shafqat Hussain S/O Mohd Shafi R/O Droundi Bhalla, Tariq Hussain S/O John Mohd R/O Phagsoo Thathri, Narinder Kumar S/O Nardev Singh R/O Hanga Bhaderwah, Mohd Aslam S/O Mohd Akbar R/O Bhaderwah and Azam Iqbal S/O Mohd Iqbal R/O Bhaderwah.
Later on all these arrestees were lodged in District Jail Kishtwar by the order of Deputy Commissioner Doda Sh Simrandeep Dingh IAS for a period of one month under preventive detention.
It is pertinent to mention that these drug peddlers in order to make quick money lure in boys especially teenagers who later become addicts which suit their business. The use of drug not only effects the health of live youth but also at times takes their lives Doda Police launched a Special Drive against this drug abuse and trafficking in Doda District and in this regard 11 cases have already been registered and 17 drug peddlers have earlier also been arrested. Besides this awareness programmes are also been organized in various schools of Doda District to spread awareness among youth about the ill effects of drug abuse.
It is worthwhile to mention here to that intensified drive against the drug mafia is top priority of Police and civil administration of District Doda and similar action will continue in the future also to wipe-out this menace from the society.
