Its Football fever at Shopian.
Shopian, January 2 : Shopian Football League was started today at Batpora Stadium, Shopian. Young players throughout the Shopian took part in the opening ceremony with full enthusiasm. This is in continuation of district administration’s initiative of ‘Khelo Shopian’.
Youth of Shopian have actively taken part in series of sports activities that were held in last five months under Sports initiative for Peace and Development. Till date more than 13,000 participants have taken part in various field and extra-curricular activities. Taking the initiative further, District Administration in collaboration with JK Sports Council kickstarted Shopian Football League today at Batpora stadium, Shopian.
The first match was held between Shopian FC vs Horizon FC and Shopian FC won the match. It is apt to say that the cold weather today received warmth through the vibe and enthusiasm of youth of Shopian. 
Along with Football, events like Shopian Premier League, Cricket tournament, Kho-Kho tournament, Volleyball tournament, Shopian marathon, Athletic meet, De-addiction seminar, etc have been held in a period of five months. 
DC Shopian, Dr Owais Ahmed, when contacted said that “youth of Shopian is immensely talented and District Administration is keen to organise such events in future as well”.
