According to a press released issued to paigaam.in, the residents of GMC Srinagar today in separate meetings with the Principal GMC, Srinagar and the Principal Secretary HME offered to resume emergency and ICU duties if the terminated/suspended PGs and SRs were reinstated and assurances about pay disparity a\were given. The statement further read that RDA GMC Srinagar wanted to come to a mid-ground with the authorities so that the patients could find some relief.
However, PMC, Srinagar on orders of the Principal Secretary issued reinstating orders of all the terminated/suspended residents except for that of the President RDA, Srinagar and the Vice President RDA , Srinagar.
In a bold gesture the president and the vice-president of RDA, GMC Srinagar directed the residents to resume emergencies risking their own status.
However, the residents of GMC Srinagar highly condemn this as ‘fascist’ approach of divide and rule and have decided to go on with the strike in response to this unacceptable action by the authorities.
“While we cannot comprehend why such an action was taken specially targeting our leaders, it has led the residents of the college questioning the motive of the authorities”,the statement read.
“We believe that they want to create an atmosphere of fear in which no one will ever dare to raise their voice against injustice anymore. This is Nazi rule”.
“We stand one for all and all for one. Residents of GMC Srinagar have decided not to call off the strike unless all the PGs and SRs who have been suspended/terminated are reinstated including our President and the Vice-president.
This decision has been taken mutually by the residents of GMC Srinagar outside of the capacity of the RDA Srinagar.
The authorities are solely to be blamed for the situation that they have put the patients in”,it added.
