Hackers swindle Rs 94 crore from Cosmos Bank in Pune

In a major cyber attack, hackers have stolen Rs 94 crore by hacking into ATM Switch Server of Cosmos Bank in Pune. The hackers stole details of multiple Visa and Rupay debit card owners.

The details were used to carry out around 12,000 transactions worth Rs 78 crore out of India.

Similarly, 2,800 transactions were carried out within the country in which an amount of Rs 80 lakh was wiped off.

In another transaction, the money was sent to Hanseng Bank located in Hong Kong. The transaction was made in the name of a company named ALM Trading Limited. This beneficiary received an amount of Rs 12 crore.

The total amount stolen is around Rs 94 crore.

Milind Kale, Chairman of Cosmos Bank said, “It was done from Canada, RBI and the Income Tax team is investigating the matter.”

The hackers wiped off Rs 94 crore and 42 lakh from Pune’s renowned Cosmos Bank. A case has been filed by Cosmos Bank with Pune Police cyber cell for alleged malware attack on its server. DCP Jyoti Priya Singh, Head of Pune Police Cyber Cell confirmed the information.
