Ace wrestler Vinesh Phogat on Monday became the 1st Indian woman to win a Gold medal in Asian Games as she created history by defeating Japanese Yuki Irie with a scoreline of 6-2 in the final of 50kg freestyle wrestling in Jakarta on Monday.

Vinesh Phogat looked in superb form right from the start of the tournament as she thrashed Uzbekistan’s wrestler Dauletbike Yakhshimuratova in the semi-final by technical superiority as she was already up with a score of 4-0 and then rolled over her opponent thrice with leg-lock and entered the title round.
