Former international archer Jayantilal Nanoma dies in road mishap

Jaipur, June 1: Former international archer turned coach Jayantilal Nanoma was killed in a road mishap when his SUV met with an accident at Varda in Rajasthan’s Dungapur district late on Sunday night.

Nanoma, 35, was first rushed in a critical condition to a Sagwara hospital then to Udaipur’s Geetanjali hospital where he succumbed to his injuries at 3:30 am on Monday, SHO Varda Thana, Sagar Chand, told media.

A PTI teacher who was travelling with Nanoma was admitted to Sagwara hosital where his condition is stable, he said.

The reason for the accident is not clear, SHO said.

Nanoma was an Asian Cup and Asian Grand Prix medallist in compound individual and team archery in 2010. He was employed as a District Sports Officer in Dungapur. He had worked as a coach with different Indian teams. He was a recipient of the prestigious Maharan Pratap State Sports Award.
