Jaipur, October 22: A ‘godman’ was allegedly axed to death by another ‘godman’ for his gold ring and necklace at a Hanuman temple at Masalpur village of Karauli district in the wee hours of Monday.
The deceased was identified as Maunti Baba Balakdas alias Alok Singh, 40, a resident of Bhind district in Madhya Pradesh, SHO Masalpur Mahendra Singh told media.
The accused, Balakdas alias Lalram Brahmin of Morena district (MP), who tried to flee was nabbed when a priest of Hanuman temple informed the police.
A case under Section 302 and 394 of the IPC has been initiated against the accused who confessed to his crime allegedly to steal suspected gold items from the body of Alok by axing his neck and back while Alok was sleeping on a cot, the SHO said.
Both had come for ‘Kailadevi Darshan’ in Karauli district.
