Four held with arms, drugs in Karnah in north Kashmir

Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday claimed to have arrested four persons with arms and contraband substances in Karnah area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

A police spokesman said a special team of police station Karnah assisted by 124 Bn BSF laid a Naka at Sadpora Karnah.

“During checking, two vehicles were intercepted and upon their search about 12 kilograms of contraband substance was recovered from the possession of Rafiq Ahmad son of Ghulam Hussain and Zakir Hussain son of Syed Alam both residents of Nawagabra Karnah,” he said.

“While carrying out search of another vehicle JK09- 8135, two persons were found travelling with AK-56 rifles. Upon their detailed search 2 AK-56 rifles, 2 magazines and AK 56 rounds were recovered from their possession. They were identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Malik son of Muzafar Malik and Shabir Gakhad son of Abdul Rashid both residents of Hajitarah Karnah.”

He said all the four persons were arrested and case FIR No. 45/ 2018 under section 8/21 NDPS Act, 7/25 Arms Act, 13 ULA has been registered in Police Station Karnah. “Further investigations are going on,” he said.
