Gunfight breaks out in Sopore; Internet suspended

A gunfight broke out in Gund Brath village of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Wednesday.

Reports said that the gunfight broke out after a joint team of the army’s 22 RR, SOG and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in Gund Brath.

As the joint team of forces approached the suspected house, the hiding militants fired upon goverment forces triggering a gunfight, reported news agency.

As per reports two to three militants are believed to be trapped in the area.

Intermittent exchange of fire was on when this report was being filed. No casualties have been reported so far in the operation, said an official.

Reports said that mobile Internet was suspended in the area as soon as the gunfight began.
