Jammu and Kashmir police on Wednesday said that the woman arrested with grenades on Srinagar outskirts yesterday was working with Hizb ul Mujahideen.

A top police official said that the woman, identified as Asiya from Khunmoh area of Srinagar, was carrying a consignment of ammunition from Kupwara to Srinagar.

ADGP Law and Order, Munir Khan told Greater Kashmir that two over ground workers have also been arrested in connection with the case and that the police was trying to connect their links with the arrested woman.

“She is not the first woman arrested by the police [in a militancy-related case]. Investigations are on. We are trying to connect missing links,” he said.

Meanwhile, reports said that the father of the woman was a Hizb militant who died in a gunfight with the forces on Boulevard nearly two decades ago.
