Station house officer (SHO) police station Sonamarg and his team had a narrow escape at Zojila pass on Srinagar-Kargil highway last evening when landslides hit the area.
The rescue team was clearing the stranded vehicles at Zojila when snowfall triggered landslides in the area.
Talking to media, SHO police station Sonamarg Manzoor Ahmed said it started snowing heavily when they were clearing the stranded vehicles.
“Couple of landslides hit the area when they were carrying out rescue work. Luckily, they took place little far away from the spot where we were carrying out the rescue operation,” he said.
He said that the rescue team included police personnel from police station Sonamarg, traffic police personnel and beacon officials.
