DDC Kupwara reviews implementation of national nutrition prog

KUPWARA, JANUARY 02: District Development Commissioner Kupwara, Khalid Jahangir today chaired a meeting of officers here to review the implementation of Poshan Abhiyan (National Nutrition Mission), a PM’s overarching scheme for holistic development in the district.

The meeting was attended by ADDC, JD Planning Kupwara, SDMs, CMO, BMOs, CDPOs and various other concerned officers.

On the occasion, a thorough discussion with regard to the effective implementation of the scheme was held during which the DDC impressed upon all concerned officers to work with sincerity and dedication for obtaining the desired results. It was informed that about 200 ICDS centres are being created during first quarter wherein focus is being given to outcome-based nutrition indicators. It was also given out that convergence micro plans are being formulated for the purpose.

The DDC said that NNM implementation strategy shall be based on intense monitoring and Convergence Action Plan right up to the grassroots level. He further said that the programme strives to reduce the level of stunting, under-nutrition, anemia and low birth weight babies.

The DDC assigned the duties and responsibilities to all stakeholders and directed them to nominate a nodal officer from their respective department for successful implementation of the programme. Moreover, he directed the departments to organize awareness programmes under NNM at all levels to educate the masses about the scheme, besides distributing the IEC material in the area.
