Gunshots were heard in Gulshanpora hamlet of Tral in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Thursday morning.
A source said that heavy firing took place after the forces launched a cordon and search operation in forest area of Gulshanpora.
The search operation launched after a tip-off about the presence of militants was on when this report was being filed.
Meanwhile, youth took to streets and staged protests near bus stand Tral as soon as the news of searches spread in the area.
