Shopian 14 May: The 7 th Scientific Advisory Committee meeting of Krishi Vigyan Kendra Shopian was held in the conference hall of District Development Commissioner’s Secretariat Shopian on Tuesday, 14 May 2019. District development Commissioner, Dr Owais Ahmad (IAS), was the guest of honour of the meeting which was chaired by Prof. Mushtaq Ahmad, Director Extension, SKUAST Kashmir. The meeting was attended by Prof. Sheikh Muzaffar Ahmad, Assoc. Director Extension SKUAST-K, Dr. Zahoor Ahmad Bhat, Sr. Scientist & Head AARC Pahnoo, Chief Agriculture officer, Chief Horticulture Officer, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, District Officer from Sheep Husbandry Department, Manager Lead bank, Officers and Officials of all the development departments, Scientists of KVK Shopian and AARC, Pahoo and progressive farmers of the district. In the event 2 nd Newsletter of KVK Shopian and folders on burning issues like: Russeting of Apple and Calcium Concerns in Fruits were released by dignitaries. At the outset, Dr Tariq Rasool, SMS Plant Protection initiated the programme by welcoming the gathering. Programme Coordinator & Head KVK Shopian, Dr. Parmeet Singh presented the Annual Progress Report 2018-19 and Annual Action Plan for the year 2019-20. Officers of line departments presented valuable suggestions for refinement of the action plan of the KVK. The progressive farmers also highlighted their issues in the event. District Development Commissioner praised KVK Shopian for their activities in the district and stressed on integrated farming approach for sustainable agriculture development. Director Extension appreciated the scientific staff of the KVK for efficient dissemination of university developed technologies for alleviating the economic condition of the farming community and directed for strong convergence with line departments for reaching the unreached. Finally Dr. Bilal Ahmad Pandit, Scientist Fruit Science delivered vote of thanks to one and all for their cooperation and valuable suggestions
