Budgam woman was murdered by her in-laws, alleges family, holds protest

Srinagar, May 15 : The family members of a woman who died yesterday reportedly after consuming poison in Kralpora area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Wednesday staged a protest, claiming that she was murdered by her in-laws.

The family members and relatives of the deceased woman, identified as Yasmeena Akthar daughter of Mohammad Ramzan Kumar of Kralpora blocked the Charar-i-sharief – Srinagar road at Kralpora to seek justice.

“It is a baseless story that Yasmeena died after committing suicide. She was poisoned to death by her in-laws,” a family member was quoted as having said by a local newsgathering agency.

Yasmeena, according to her family members, was into the fourth month of her pregnancy.

As per her family, she died at her husband’s residence at Charisharief during the intervening night of May 13 and 14. She was declared brought dead by the doctors at SMHS hospital in Srinagar.
