New Delhi, November 25: A 3-judge bench on Monday assembled to hear Shiv Sena-NCP-Cong’s plea against Maharashtra Governor’s decision to swear in Devendra Fadnavis as CM. The 3 parties had also asked the top court to consider a plea that they be invited to form government with Shiv Sena supremo Uddhav Thackeray as CM.

The Supreme Court said it is not considering the prayer of Shiv Sena-NCP-Cong that they be invited to form government in Maharashtra.

During the proceedings, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta for Centre submitted letters of Maharashtra Governor and CM Devendra Fadnavis.

Mehta said that the Maharashtra Governor was cognizant of facts and the situation after the polls results that had led to the invoking of President rule in state.

The Centre maintained that after being assured that no party was in position to form government the governor recommended President rule in the state. —PTI
