“Fit India” events organised in schools across Jammu division, Mega event at Teachers Bhawan Jammu

Jammu: Prime Minister Narendra Modi kick started ‘Fit India’ campaign in Delhi and to celebrate the unveiling of the campaign, schools across the Jammu Division organised events to take the fitness pledge on the directions of Director School Education Jammu, Ms. Anuradha Gupta.

Across the entire Jammu division, schools organised events, to commemorate the ‘Fit India’ campaign launched by Prime Minister Modi, students watched the launching ceremony live on TV in schools premises and in far off areas teachers and other officials innovated by using radio sets, car stereos and playing recorded videos of the event.

Students were educated about the importance of exercise and fitness. An oath to work on ones own health and help others too was administered to students.

On the directions of DSEJ Ms. Anuradha Gupta, C.E.Os, DIET Principles, Z.E.Os and other officials attended different schools and took the fitness pledge along with the students while supervising the events personally.

The main event was organised at Teachers Bhawan, Gandhi Nagar Jammu where more than 800 students watched live the launch of ‘Fit India’ campaign by Prime Minister Modi on a giant screen using projector. DSEJ Ms. Anuradha Gupta was the chief guest of the event.

Mr. Romesh Sharma head of counselling cell talked to the students about the psychological as well as physical implications of exercise and keeping fit.

Ms. Mousami Verma, Physical Education teacher as well as a national level basketball player engaged the jam packed auditorium in exercises and gave live demonstration of important exercise which help people across all ages to remain in a healthy mental and physical state.

Students who have brought laurels for the state and won medals in various sports were introduced to the audience and their achievements were made familiar to the audience so as to motive them into taking sports seriously.

DSEJ Ms. Anuradha Gupta announced that these students will be included in the ‘ Shining Stars’ programme which publicises and helps young achievers from different fields.

One such State Gold Medal winning boxer Gar Singh Saini was assured all possible help from the Department of Education by Ms. Anuradha Gupta (DSEJ) when she came to know that the 11th class student had quit boxing because of adverse financial conditions of his family.

Gar Singh Saini thanked Ms. Anuradha Gupta(DSEJ) by releasing a statement to the press.

The function concluded with Director Education Ms. Anuradha Gupta addressing the students. She talked to the students about exercises which could be done anytime and anywhere and have been a part of our culture for centuried, being passed on from generation to generation. She demonstrated few of such exercises herself on the stage while students replicated them to thundering appluse. In the end she thanked all the staff members who helped in organising the event and making it a success.
