10 days on, police nail F Bar firing suspects

Chandigarh, November 30: Ten days after gunshots were fired following a clash between two groups during a birthday party of BJP MP Kirron Kher’s close associate Sahdev Salaria at a night club, F Bar, in Sector 26, the five suspects in the case have been arrested by the crime branch of the Chandigarh Police.

All suspects were produced before a court, which remanded them in four-day police custody.
The suspects — Chetan Munjal, Rajesh Paswan, Rinku, Rohit, alias Rimy, and Arjun Thakur, son of a head constable, were booked in a case of attempt to murder and the Arms Act registered at the Sector 26 police station.

DSP (Crime) Pawan Kumar said all suspects were arrested from Ropar on a tip-off. Sources said the weapon with which the gunshots were fired had been recovered.

The sources said they would investigate who all helped them escape and the places they visited.

On the day of the incident, an altercation took place between the two groups, which turned ugly. According to a complaint lodged with the police, suspects Rinku and Chetan pulled out pistols and allegedly fired gunshots.

One of the bullets hit Jaideep Singh, who was the president of the student council at SD College, Sector 32, in 2015, while another one hit Yogeshwar, who received a minor injury.

An NSUI leader, Pankaj Jakhar, who was also present at the party, suffered stitches on the head after he was attacked with a bottle. Jakhar also received injuries on both his hands. Another youth, Deepak Kundu, was also injured in the incident.

Weapon recovered

Sources said the weapon with which the gunshots were fired had been recovered.

Cops want to know who helped them 

While on the run, the suspects went to several places in Punjab and Uttar Pradesh. The police said the suspects would be interrogated regarding who assisted them during their escape for 10 days.
