New Delhi, December 13: The Supreme Court on Thursday issued a notice to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis over alleged non-disclosure of two criminal cases against him. The court was hearing a petition filed by Satish Ukey, claiming that the CM had allegedly concealed the pendency of two criminal cases against him in his 2014 election affidavit.
Ukey, in his petition, alleged that there were pending cases of cheating and defamation pending against Fadnavis, which the Maharashtra CM did not disclose in his affidavit during the 2014 Elections.
The petitioner had first moved a Nagpur court where his petition was dismissed. He has then moved High Court, which had upheld the Nagpur court’s order. Ukey has now challenged the Bombay HC order in Supreme Court.
