Srinagar, December 11: The Jammu and Kashmir authorities have partially restored SMS services with people on Tuesday starting to receive “One-Time Passwords (OTPs)” for online businesses. “People would not be allowed to send any messages from their mobiles,” officials said.

“It is a relief. Traders were unable to carry out bank transactions and students could not fill online applications for various exams,” said Majid Hussain.  Phone connectivity and Internet services were blocked on August 5 after abrogation of Article 370.

Mobiles in Kashmir began ringing after a gap of 72 days on October 14, but the SMS service was halted within hours.
