Plus 2 PSC Lecturers’ Association district unit Ramban holds elections for district body.

Ramban, 24th Sep 2021: In a first of its kind ,All J&K Plus two PSC Lecturers’ Association district unit Ramban holds election and elected its body in which Riyaz Ahmed Sohil was elected as district President.

The elections were held in online mode and all the PSC appointed lecturers of district participated and exercised their franchise.

As per the constitution of All J&K +2 PSC lecturers’ association, the Central Working Committee Jammu had earlier constituted Election Commission to conduct free and fair provincial level election of the association.

In the first phase the commission issued notification for three districts viz Ramban,Reasi and Samba. The notification in this regard was issued on 14th of Sep 2021 and the withdrawal and scrutiny was scheduled on 17th sep.It Is worthwhile to mention here that PSC Lecturers association is the sole representative of direct recruits and is holding its maiden election for both district as well as provincial bodies in which the direct recruits of the cadre are the part of its electorate.


As per the hand out issued reads as “ The issues of direct recruits were never raised by any forum so there was dire need to have a strong platform from where genuine issues are raised. For this purpose, the association has adopted democratic set up and this exercise is based on the notion that the association will work for lecturers welfare”. It further reads that there were three candidates in the fray for the post of president, two for vice president and two for Secretary .

Riyaz Ahmed Sohil was elected as president,Dr.Ali as vice president and Mukhtiyar Ahmed as Secretary respectively whereas Mrs.Nahida Akhter and Omeet Singh were elected unopposed for the post of vice president female wing and organizer respectively.

Besides,Shakeel ur Rehman Runyal Principal HSS Gandhari was appointed as returning officer and Irfan Ahmed Bhat as Assistant Returning officer.

The overall election process was conducted under the supervision of Chief Election Commissioner Sh.Dalbir Singh and Election Commissioners Raphael Bernard retired Principal and Sh Manzoor Ahmed Shah Rtd principal and observer Mohd Ayoub Sheikh.

After the results were announced ,a felicitation function was organized at HSS Khari,GHSS Banihal and HSS Ramban in which the newly elected representatives were felicitated by the fellow colleagues.” S.A Tantary,M A Katoch ,Manzoor Ahmed Kamgar and Ranjay kumar were invited as special guest on the acassion.
M.A katoch the spokesperson of CWC Jammu congratulated the elected representatives and said that the association believes in democratic process and about 1100 PSC appointed lecturers are participating this process which is historical in nature. He said that the association will strive hard to convince the department to implement long pending demand of ACP.We are also committed to raise the standard of quality education as per the parameters laid down in NEP 2020 so as to make Indian society progressive, sustainable and vibrant knowledge hub, he further added.

Manjeet Chib convener CWC Jammu also thanked the cadre members for strengthening the association and taking part in the process of electing district and provincial level bodies.
