Latehar (J’khand), Oct 2: Security personnel seized 16 firearms, including two that were looted from police, in Jharkhand’s Latehar district.

The firearms were found hidden in the bushes of the Budi Sakhua jungle in Balumath during a search operation on Sunday, a senior police officer told reporters here.

Latehar Superintendent of Police Prasant Anand had constituted a team to seize the arms after a tip-off, Palamu district Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Vipul Shukla said Monday.

The firearms belonged to Akraman and Gulshan, leaders of the banned outfit Trutiya Prastuti Committee (TPC).

Out of the seized arms, two were 303 regular rifles looted from the police, one was of 315 bore, while 13 were 9-mm rifles, Shukla said.

The outfit has suffered a setback following the recovery of the firearms, the DIG claimed.

The policemen involved in the search operation will be rewarded, he added.
