Another paraglider dies, in Mandi now

Australian paraglider Sanjay Kumar Ramdas Devarkonda died after crash-landing in the Jogindernagar area of Mandi district last evening.

Around 6 pm yesterday, the police were informed that a paraglider had crashed in the area. A search was launched and the paraglider was found in the hills around Duggli after six hours of search. Devarkonda had already died. The body was taken to Tanda Medical College for an autopsy.

Devarkonda was a resident of New South Wales in Australia. He was also an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) card holder.
This is the second death of a paraglider in Himachal over the past week. The Bir-Billing area is scheduled to host the India Open Paragliding World Cup from October 27 to November 3.

On October 23, free-flyer Kok Chang (53) of Singapore had died in an accident. He had come here to participate in the world event.
